The Court ·An official basketball court will be used for each game. ·The half court line will separate the two teams.Crossing the half court line will result in the elimination of a player. Equipment ·6 regulation size balls should be used: 4 Blockers (8.5") and 2 Stingers (5"). ·Ball layout goes as follows: Blocker, Stinger, Blocker, Blocker, Stinger, Blocker. Players ·Teams consist of six players. ·Coed teams may consist of any number (up to 6) of either gender. ·Players in the kids tournament must be 12 years of age or younger. Players in the adult tournament must be a minimum of 13 years of age. Matches ·A regulation match will operate under a best of three format. ·Each game will operate under a five-minute time limit. ·A game is won when all of the opposing team's players are eliminated/or when the five-minute time limit is us (at which point the team with the most remaining players wins) ·If at the end of the five-minute time limit each team has the same number of players, the game will enter sudden death (first elimination wins) Game Types: ·The tournament will begin with pool play. ·After pool play, every team will be seeded for a single-elimination tournament. Beginning Play ·Each team will begin play with one foot on the baseline of their side. Putting a Ball in Play ·The game will begin with the blow of a whistle and players will “rush” to retrieve balls. ·No ball can be put into play (thrown at the opposing team) until it has been returned to the start line (baseline). There are several ways to put a ball into play following a Rush. ·A player carries the ball across the attack line. ·A player passes the ball a teammate who is behind or carries it across the attack line. Outs ·A Player shall be deemed "out" when a live ball hits any part of the player's body, clothing, or uniform. ·If a player is hit by a live ball rebounding off another player or ball lying on the court. ·A defending player catches a live ball they have thrown Blocking ·Players can defend themselves by blocking the ball in flight with another ball but must retain control over the ball they are blocking with. A player dropping or losing possession of the blocking ball is deemed "out." Stalling ·The act of intentionally delaying the game. ·If a referee determines that a player or team is stalling, the referee will warn player or team. If the stalling continues, at the referee's discretion, player or team will lose possession of all balls on their side. ·If both teams are stalling a reset should occur Headshots ·A headshot occurs when a player is hit directly in the head by a high thrown ball. ·Any thrower committing a headshot will be deemed "out."
